The Kern Valley girls’ soccer team took came back strong from their holiday break as they collected a pair of league matches this past week. They faced off with Desert and then took on Frazier Mountain.
Coming into this match the Lady Broncs were sitting at 0-1-1 on the year in HDL action. The match versus the Lady Scorpions of Desert was the closest of the two victories. The final score saw Kern Valley pick up the 4-1 win. Four different Kern Valley players were able to recorded goals in the match. Aspen Hacker, Alexandra Armes, Kenadie Young, and Faith Kirby put the ball in the back of the net for the Lady Broncs. Picking up one assist apiece for Kern Valley were Payton Forbes and Armes. This was the first league win of the season.
Two days later the Lady Broncs had the home field advantage as Frazier Mountain came to town. In the end Kern Valley dominated this match as they scored often and came away with the 11-0 victory to sweep their week of HDL play. The 11 goals in the match were scored by three different Lady Broncs.
Leading the team in scoring was Armes. She kicked five goals past the Lady Falcons goalkeeper. She would also record a pair of assists to total 13 points in the match. A. Hacker added four goals in the blowout win. Young rounded out the scoring for Kern Valley by pushing two goals into the back of the net. Forbes contributed to the victory by recording three assists.
With the pair of wins, the Lady Broncs moved their overall record to 3-4-1. They pushed their HDL record to 2-1-1. The currently sit tied for second place in league. They are tied with the Rosamond Lady Roadrunners who they faced off with at home on Tuesday. These teams both trail Bishop who is undefeated in the HDL at 4-0. Kern Valley will go on the road to play Mojave on Thursday.
