On Oct. 5, on the hometown court, proved to be an exciting and lively event as the Kern Valley Lady Broncs hosted Rosamond. The varsity Lady Broncs volleyball squad, following a loss to Frazier Mountain on Oct. 3, came to play. Even though they would take the loss at the end of the night, the play on the court was exciting and the girls showed that they are learning how to compete. Losing the first game 18-25, the Lady Broncs rallied back and took the second game 25-21 but lost the third and fourth games 20-25 and 21-25 respectively. Michaele Dietzel, sole senior on the team, took top hitting honors with four kills. She was followed by Bradlie Preston and Alyssa Servin each with three, Krista Witten and Arian Hess with two, and Abby Achorn delivered one kill. Hess, debuting as setter, also had six assists while Servin and Alyson Bangert helped out with two apiece. Libero, Achorn scooped up 10 digs, Preston and Hess each collected three, Destiny Chaparro and Dietzel each saved two, and Casiana Godinez, Bailey Hurst and Servin each dug up one. Delivering three service aces each were Servin, Witten and Preston, Hurst recorded two and Hess contributed one. The Broncs will stay home this week, as they hosted Cal City on Tuesday and Bishop on Thursday. Games begin at 4 p.m. We hope to see you there.
