Kern Valley’s varsity softball squad continues to march through their opponents.
This time it was a 15-0 victory over Boron to stay unbeaten in High Desert League action.
The Lady Broncs scored in every at bat in the five-inning home game.
They started the road to the win with two runs in the first inning. They added two more in the second, exploded for six in the third and finished it off with five in the fourth.
As a team they delivered 11 hits, including two for extra bases. They put the ball in play as they only fanned twice in the game and would only get one free pass.
Another strong pitching effort from Helen Hayes gave the Lady Broncs the easy victory and improved their mark to 9-5-1 overall and 7-0 in the HDL.
Hayes in the circle allowed just one hit, and hit one batter for the only two base runners Boron would have. She went the five innings striking out eight.
The offense was led by Sadi Hartman with a pair of extra base hits. She tripled and doubled to knock in three runs for Kern Valley.
Hayes helped her own cause as she had two hits and drove in four runs, while Brenna Acosta plated a pair of runs with two hits. Haily Martinez had two hits, while Anne Keverline, Krista Witten and Mila Morgan each had one hit. Hannah Ocampo recorded one RBI in the game.
The Lady Broncs sit atop the HDL standings with their 7-0 record. They are one game ahead of Desert who they will face this week. They also are two games up on Rosamond in the three-team battle for HDL supremacy.
Kern Valley played Desert on Tuesday in an important HDL match up.
Wednesday and Thursday kicked off the Wasco Tournament. They returned to HDL action on Friday with a game against Frazier Mountain. Then they will continue play in the Wasco Tournament over their break.
