Kern Valley’s frosh/soph volleyball team lost a tough match at home against the Lady Generals.
The Lady Broncs took the match to three sets, but were unable to complete the math win. The matched open with Shafter winning the first set. Kern Valley bounced back to tie the match at 1-1 by winning the second set. In the end the Lady Generals commanded the match victory by taking the third set. Note: No individual stats were made available. This is a new team, and things are still forming for the coach.
The set-back for the new team Kern Valley is a learning experience and they will improve as their short season continues. In the long run this will strengthen the Lady Broncs volleyball program. In turn the successes should normally outweigh the shortcomings.
The Lady Broncs head coach Shelby Chumley commenting on the match said, “Our girls played very well as a team and constantly were setting up for an attack. We have continued to progress in our games as a team, in all areas of the game. Evelett (Alexander) was called upon in this match to play front row. Which is something she has never done and she played outstanding, was constantly talking, cheering, and trying to set the ball up for attacks. I am overall proud of our performance and can’t wait to see how the girls continue to grow as a team.”
The Lady Broncs went on the road to take on McFarland on Tuesday. They will play on their home court tomorrow when they entertain Del Oro.
