In another dominating performance, the varsity Lady Broncs basketball team crushed the squad from Cal City.
With their usual mix of strong offensive play and stellar defense Kern Valley crushed their opponents by 51 points. The final score showed the Lady Broncs winning 80-29.
With the victory the Lady Broncs moved to 5-0 in the High Desert League and sit atop the standings with a comfortable two-game lead. The only team they have yet to face is their rival Bishop.
The victory was the fifth straight since losing to Tulare Union in the tournament championship finals. Currently Kern Valley is 9-1 on the year.
In the game with Cal City, the Lady Broncs started off strong as they dropped in 28 points to begin the game. With the offense jelling and the defense stepping up, the Lady Broncs opened a huge early lead. It was 28-10 after one quarter.
When they went to the break the margin had ballooned to 14 points. Cal City was limited to just 10 points for the second straight quarter. Kern Valley added 16 points to make the halftime score 44-20.
The second half was all Lady Broncs as the defense suffocated the Cal City team. The Lady Ravens were allowed just nine points in the second half. They were held scoreless in the fourth.
Kern Valley on the other hand continued to drop in the baskets. They scored another 28 points in the third and finished it off with eight in the final quarter of action.

With the win and the 9-1 record, the Lady Broncs are currently the top ranked team in the Central Section of CIF Division 5.
They will now play in the Arvin Holiday Tournament starting on Dec. 27. Their opponent is TBA (to be announced.)
Kern Valley will then take a short break before resuming action on Jan. 8. They will travel to take on rival Bishop to complete the first go around of HDL action.
