Lady Broncs claim share of HDL

The varsity Lady Broncs finished the season by winning their last two games to clinch at least a share of the High Desert League title.

Kern Valley played Cal City and dominated before doing the same to their rival Bishop.

In the Bishop game it was Senior Night and the hometown Lady Broncs did not disappoint the crowd. They took control early and never looked back.

Kern Valley dropped in 18 points and held their opponent to 12 points in the first quarter. By the time the teams went to the break, Kern Valley had upped the lead to 35-17. The second half was a duplicate of the first half as Kern Valley poured in 35 more points. Bishop was limited to 16 second half points to create the final of 70-33.

The four seniors on the Lady Broncs squad scored just as many points as their opponent.

Hannah Hurley led the way with a team-high 22 points. She hit three times from three-point land. Sadi Hartman added five points, while Bradlie Preston scored four. Alyssa Servin had two points to ring up the 33 points from the Kern Valley seniors. Maddie Hurley scored 20 points, while Sharon Reyes had six points. Haley Tedrow had five points, while Brenna Acosta scored four points, including one from behind the three-point arc. Addy Goulding finished off the scoring for Kern Valley with two points.

H. Hurley and M. Hurley each recorded double-doubles in the game. M. Hurley pulled down a team high of 22 rebounds to complete her double-double, while H. Hurley was credited with 13 steals to complete hers.
Back to the board play, Hartman grabbed 11 rebounds while Tedrow and Servin had nine each. H. Hurley pulled down eight boards, while Preston had five rebounds. Acosta finished with three boards, while Goulding had a pair of rebounds.

Acosta handed out four assist to lead Kern Valley. H. Hurley and M. Hurley each recorded one assist. Swatting away one shot each was M. Hurley, Servin and Hartman.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Broncs traveled to Cal City. Another dominating performance led them to an easy victory.

Kern Valley opened up with a 15-point first to take the early lead. The Lady Ravens managed just nine points. Kern Valley continued to find the bottom of the net the rest of the way and won the game 76-45.

The second quarter score saw Kern Valley take a 41-22 lead into halftime. The third quarter ended with the Lady Broncs adding 24 points to go up 65-35. They ended the game with 11 more points to claim the win.

H. Hurley was the top scorer with 26 points. She dropped in three from three-point land. M. Hurley finished with 12 points and one from long distance, while Tedrow also finished in double figures with 10 points. She also hit one from behind the three-point arc.

Hartman scored eight points, while Preston hit one from three-point land and finished with seven points. Servin put in six points, while Acosta had four. Reyes closed out the scoring with three points.

M. Hurley recorded another double-double as she grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. Servin pulled down nine boards, while Hartman had seven rebounds. Tedrow finished with six boards, while Preston and H. Hurley each had five rebounds. Reyes had a pair of rebounds, while Acosta had one board.

Leading the way in assists was Acosta with eight. H. Hurley had three assists, while Tedrow handed out two assists. Preston, Reyes, M. Hurley and Servin each had one assist in the game.

The two wins put Kern Valley at 11-1 in league and hoping Cal City can upset Rosamond to give them the outright HDL title. The Lady Broncs finished 17-4 overall on the season.
