KV Youth Football Takes Down Browns

Both the Kern Valley Varsity and Jayvee Youth Football teams took home the first “W” of the season on Saturday, Sept. 9, against the Bakersfield Browns.

The Browns couldn’t find their way to the end-zone with a final score of final score Varsity Broncs 30, Browns 0.
There was no stopping the Kern Valley offense as Bryce Smoot ran 97 yards into the end-zone; Luke Brown, Wyatt Stuck, and Zane Carver all went in for a touchdown as well, with Aiden Madden, Carson Parks and Smoot each picking up a PAT.

The Browns just couldn’t keep up with Kern Valley as Gavin Anderson with 71 rushing yards, Carver 43 yards, Brown 23 yards, Tavin Watts with 10 yards, Ethan Stockwell 5 yards, Parks 5 yards, Madden also 5 yards, and Stuck 1 yard.

Anderson lead the team in tackles with 8 (2 sacks), Smoot 4 (1 sack), Carver 4, Brown 3 (1 sack), Watts with 3, Maverick Mack 3, Tyler Dourlain 3 (1 sack), Tye Humphers 2, Stuck with 2, Deegan Lee 1, Jaydan Davidson 1.
Reed Archer and Stuck both had a fumble recovery during the game as well.
Javeey was just as impressive with a final score of Jayveey Broncs 33, Browns 6. Kaegan McCarthy scored 2 of those touchdowns, Garrett Davis had 1 touchdown after recieving a 56 yard pass from McCarthy, Carson Strange also had 1 touchdown after receiving a 17 yard pass from McCarthy and Hunter Watts also came through with a touchdown for the Broncs.
McCarthy lead the team in rushing yards with 7-19, Daimon Dedmon 3-5, Colton Carver 2-4, Jake Hurley 1-0, Bryan Hernadez 2-(Minus 2), and TJ Sanders 2-(Minus 2).
McCarthy had a great game with 7-18-189 passing yards.
Receiving yards was led by Watts with 3-67, then Strange 3-66, and Davis 1-56.

Hernandez lead the team in tackles with 11, Watts 6, Josh Papp 5, Strange 5, Davis 3, Jared Stansbury 2, Christian Parks 2, Brock Willingham 2, Ryan Prince 2, Brodie Chadwick 1, Jacob Leith 1, Dominick Mental 1, Hurley 1, Wyatt Johnstone 1, Dedmon 1, Carver 1, Thomas Henry 1, and Sanders 1.
Parks had 2 interceptions and Cameron Tomas had 1, while Papp came through with a fumble recovery during the game as well.
