Kern Valley traveled to Frazier Mountain on Oct. 30 for a dual meet.
The canyon was closed because of a fire, so the two squads had to take the ‘Lion’s Trail’ again to get to the race. It was cold and windy at Frazier Mountain.

We raced at Frazier Mountain about a month ago so every athlete’s goal was to beat their time after a month of training and every athlete from Kern Valley reached their goal! The Frazier Mountain course is a tough course with a lot of big hills and most of the course is on sand.

Gunner Davis shaved off over a minute from his time a month ago and finished in sixth place at 24:06. Will Bunting did the same and came in seventh place at 25:47 with the best sprint finish of his career beating a Frazier Mountain athlete at the tape. Mack Wargo finished in eighth place at 26:19 shaving off almost two minutes from a month ago. Trey Bushling also beat his time from a month ago and finished in ninth place at 27:22. Richard Lambert was sick and did not race so the boy’s did not have a team.

In the girls race Addie Goulding finished in fourth place at 27:53 and Bella Williams in fifth place at 28:02. Both of them ran a faster time than a month ago and were happy to see that they are faster now!

Olivia Wagner had another great sprint finish and beat her time of a month ago by over three minutes which is huge. She finished strong with the time of 29:49.

Head coach Don Hazard said, “I was really happy with everyone’s improvement. I love this team. They are awesome!”

Today the Kern Valley teams travel to Bishop for the High Desert League Championships.
