KV kicks off season at home

Kern Valley’s youth football teams, after a schedule change opened their season at home against the Panthers of Bakersfield.

By all accounts, they would sweep their opponent winning all three games.

The jayvee team crushed the Panthers 42-0. The sophomore squad picked up the 40-6 victory, while the freshmen team won 25-18.

The jayvee Broncs dominated the Panthers as they scored twice in the first quarter, twice in the second and finished the scoring off with two TDs in the third. The Kern Valley defense did its part as they kept the opponents out of the end zone as they moved to 1-0 on the year.

Rushing (113 yards): Luke Brown 9-40, Kagan McCarthy 2-26 (two touchdowns nine and 17 yards), Colton Carver 2-19 (13-yard TD), Jake Hurley 1-15, Ethan Stockwell 1-13.Passing (15 yards): McCarthy 3-of-3 15 yards (two touchdowns, two and 13 yards), Brown 0-for-1.
Receiving: Hunter Watts 2-15 yards (two TDs, two and 13 yards). One completion went for zero yards with no reception credit.
