KV girls wrestling team earns honor

When it comes to brains, the Lady Broncs wrestling squad is the cream of the crop.
The annual Ingraham Trophies Winter Team Academic Awards for the CIF Central Section were recently named. Currently there are 104 schools that make up the Central Section of CIF.

For wrestling, a team to be in the running, they must have at least six members. For a team to be recognized they must also have a team GPA of 3.00 or better.
The Kern Valley girl wrestlers with a 3.57 GPA took the top spot of the six teams that were able to met the criteria. They outdistanced themselves from second place Sanger who came in with a 3.37 GPA.

Members of the Kern Valley girls wrestling team include, Leah Villa, Makenzie Christensen, Shelby Williams, Megan Lane, Tesse Monahan, Lexi Yearwood, Ayla Lambert and Brooke McKillop.
Following course the Lady Broncs basketball squad finished 34th in the Central Section with a team GPA of 3.26.
The Lady Broncs soccer team also was not to be denied as they were 43rd in the CIF with a mark of 3.32 GPA.

The High Desert League placed 16 teams spread out across the six sports recognized including Kern Valley’s accomplishments in their respective winter sports.
