Mammoth win in three sets to push Lady Broncs to second place in HDL
The Lady Broncs varsity volleyball could not handle the Mammoth squad in the recent HDL showdown.
Kern Valley was looking to get even in the HDL standings with the only team to beat them in league play. It was not to be as the Lady Huskies grabbed the match win to gain some separation in the standings. The Lady Broncs battled, but in the end, Mammoth proved to be on top of their volleyball game.
The match opened with Mammoth taking the first set 25-23. The 1-0 match lead turned into a 2-0 margin as the Lady Huskies won the marathon set 26-24. The third set saw Kern Valley lose their luster and suffer the setback at the hands of Mammoth. The third set score favored the Lady Huskies 25-18. With the loss Kern Valley (16-10, 8-2 HDL) now sits in second place in the HDL standings. The Lady Broncs trail the Mammoth squad by one game, but have lost twice to them. They are one game in front of third place Cal City.
Kern Valley was limited to just two service aces in the match. Jayda Bushling and Ava Elliott recorded one ace apiece.
Coming off the loss at the hands of Mammoth, the Lady Broncs had to regroup as they traveled to Boron to face off with the team that has not won a league match. Kern Valley was able to keep their focus and collect the victory. They would dominate the match and sweep Boron to complete the volleyball week for the Lady Broncs.
In this match Bushling led the way with six service aces. She was followed by Mille Bustamante with four aces. Alex Armes delivered a pair of aces, while Elli Jeans had one. Fannon was credited with five digs in the match. Leenah Troller recorded 17 assists for the Lady Broncs.
