The Lady Broncs varsity basketball team returned to the court to get their season rolling once again.
They had three games this week and were able to come away with two wins. They took on Frazier Mountain on Jan. 7 and crushed their opponent by 32 points. The final score saw Kern Valley win 43-11.
The very next day it was a contest with the Lady Bobcats of Boron. This would be another dominating performance as the Lady Broncs collected the 43-25 victory to move to 2-0 in the High Desert League.
The Lady Broncs opened the game by scoring eight points. Boron managed seven as the horn sounded to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Kern Valley defense clamped down on their opponent as they limited them to just four points. The Lady Broncs offense exploded for 18 points to open a comfortable cushion. When the team went to halftime the scoreboard read Kern Valley 26 and only 11 for the visiting Boron squad.
Coming out of the break, Kern Valley added another 11 points to their total. The Lady Bobcats were held to six points to keep the score firmly in Kern Valley’s favor. At the end of the third quarter it was 37-17.
The final quarter saw Boron score eight points and Kern Valley added six to create the final score and give the Lady Broncs the victory.
The final game of the week pitted the Lady Broncs against Rosamond. The Lady Roadrunners stuffed Kern Valley and produced the 59-43 win to stop their two-game winning streak.
No other information was made available for these games.
Kern Valley went on the road on Tuesday as they played Cal City. They will be on their home court on Friday when they square off with Bishop.
