Kern Valley U12 soccer boys finish second in Bakersfield all-star tourney

By Jim Phillips

The Kern Valley 12U Boys All-star soccer team traveled to Bakersfield last weekend to compete in an all-star tournament. The event gave the local players the opportunity to compete at a higher level of play than in standard league play. The all-star tournament challenged them to work hard and to keep fighting until the end — and that’s exactly what they did as they finished in second place. They gave their best efforts and improved as individuals as well as a team. It will be exciting to see these boys play in the next AYSO season and use the knowledge that was gained from their experience as all-star players.

KV U10 coach Jeremy Devin said the team play showed individual as well as team skills. “There were incredible saves and goals made, Devin said. “The team players played their hearts out. They went up against and matched the best team in the event. Each player brought their own unique talents and showed what a true all-star player really is and finished in second place. I am so proud of you all and so blessed to have coached each and every one of you.”
