Kern Valley traveled to Frazier Mountain.
Frazier Mountain had a four-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Kern Valley woke up the second quarter and had a five point lead at half time.
The team continued to play well and pulled away in the second half winning the game 40-29.
Kaci Bunting led all scorers with 19 points. She also pulled down seven rebounds and had one assist and one steal. Elexis Romero scored six points and had one rebound and a steal. Brooke Jeans scored four points and two steals. Dori Ross owned the boards and pulled down 10 rebounds and scored four points along with one assist. Bryce Kelso had two points and three rebounds. Faith Oetting had two rebounds, one assist and a pair of steals. Madison Griswold scored five points, had two rebounds, two assists and three steals. Alyssa Fogle had two rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Head coach Don Hazard said, “I was really pleased on how well the team played together against Frazier Mountain.”
On Jan. 29, the Lady Broncs traveled to play the Cal City Lady Ravens.
Kern Valley got off to a great start and shocked Cal City with a 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Cal City woke up during the second quarter, but Kern Valley still had a five-point lead at halftime.
The Lady Broncs team played hard in the third quarter and moved out to a six point lead when the horn sounded.
In the final quarter the wheels started to come off and Cal City got hot from the three-point line. The Lady Ravens turned up their defense. Kern Valley fell to Cal City.
Individual stats: Griswold, seven points, and one rebound. Oetting, six points and six rebounds, Kelso four points, two rebounds, Bunting, four points, four rebounds, Jeans, four points, Fogle one rebound, Ross two rebounds.
Hazard said, “The team played a good game. Cal City hit some big shots in the fourth and our offense stalled, but I was happy with how hard the team played.”
Hazard said, “This has been a great team to coach and they are awesome people.”
