The Kern Valley’s girls soccer team came off a long break by splitting a pair of matches this past week.
They started with a match versus Cal City at home on Jan. 7.
The defense stepped up as they did not let the Lady Ravens score. Kern Valley scored two goals for the 2-0 victory. They scored one goal in the first half and finished it off with a goal in the second half.
Kylie Weeden off the assist from Erin Hall was the first goal in the match. Mila Morgan capped the scoring for the Lady Broncs with an unassisted goal in the second half.
Kern Valley was able to put seven shots on goal with two finding the back of the net. Weeden had three shots on goal to lead the team. Olivia Wagner had a pair of shots on goal, while Hannha O’Campo and Morgan each had one shot on goal.
In goal for Kern Valley, Lexi Baker had a quiet game facing only five shots on goal from her Cal City opponents. She would keep all five out of the net to record a shutout.
Two days later, it was a trip to Bishop. The Lady Broncs could not muster any offense as they were held scoreless in the 4-0 loss to the Lady Broncos.
In goal, Baker faced 10 shots and recorded six saves. No other information was made available.
Kern Valley went on the road on Tuesday as they had a non-league match with the Mojave Lady Mustangs. On Thursday the Lady Broncs will be back at home as they entertain Boron in a High Desert League match.
