Kern Valley drops home match versus Shafter

The varsity Lady Broncs volleyball team started strong, but could not keep the momentum going as they were beaten by Shafter.
Kern Valley grabbed the first set as they won 25-21. Holding a 1-0 lead in match action, the Lady Broncs were hopeful. Shafter bounced back to take set number two 25-13 to even the match at 1-1. It was the Lady Generals who took control and dominated the next two sets. They won set three 25-18 and closed out the Lady Broncs with a 25-13 win in the fourth set. With the loss, Kern Valley is now 1-1 in match action on the year.
The Lady Broncs were limited to just three service aces in the match. Paisley Wilkins, Ellie Allen, and Elli Jeans each had one service ace apiece. Leading the way in kills was Ruby Hawkings. She collected 16 to top the chart for Kern Valley. Jessie Bunting recorded eight kills, while Allen had six. Ava Elliott came up with five kills, while Jeans had a pair of kills. No other individual stats were made available due to a technical difficulty with the film according to head coach Jamie Duran.
Kern Valley went on the road to McFarland on Tuesday as they continued their non-league season. They will be at home on Thursday when they take on Del Oro. Matches begin with frosh/soph match.
