On Jan. 5, the Broncs took two wrestlers to one of the toughest tournaments in the United States, The Doc Buchanan Invitational held at Clovis High School.
Jacob Lightner, wrestling at 285 pounds, went 1-2 for the tournament. He pinned one opponent and would lose to the third and sixth seeded wrestlers. His losses came from those who finished fourth and sixth, respectively.
Conrad Miller would take to the mats twice but came up short to finish 0-2 in the tournament. His second loss was a 1-5 decision to the fourth ranked wrestler in the Central Section from Clovis.
Kern Valley head coach Wes Woody said, “It was a great learning experience for the Broncs. They learned valuable lessons and gained experience for the future and the post season.”
Kern Valley will next take the mat on Thursday when they travel to Rosamond for their second High Desert League match of the season.
