This morning at about 8:00 a.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive in Wofford Heights. When they arrived, they located and arrested Dennis Allen Welch. He was transported and booked into the jail for several criminal charges. At approximately 6:18 in the evening on Tuesday, March 6, Kern County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist the Kern County Fire Department on a medical aid call in the 11300 block of Kernville Road in Kernville.

While deputies were in route, the fire department personnel had already arrived on scene and found a victim who had been stabbed. The victim was transported to the nearest trauma center for treatment and is currently listed in critical condition.

Detectives were called to the scene to investigate where they learned that the victim had been involved in an argument with 40-year-old Bakersfield resident Dennis Welch, who has been been identified as the suspect in this case, which lead to the stabbing.

Welch is described as a white male, 6’1″ tall, weighing 210 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He is currently wanted for attempted murder and mayhem.
