The Kern Valley Junior Little League Softball squad took on Edwards in a double header on Saturday. They would sweep both games at home in dominating fashion. Game one saw Kern Valley win 23-0 and they followed that with a 28-0 victory in game two.
Kern Valley as a team delivered 18 hits in game one. They had six that went for extra bases. I their first at bats, Kern Valley scored eight runs to jump out in front. They would never look back. They added six in the second and finished it of with nine in the third inning.
In the circle the Kern Valley pitchers limited Edwards to just three hits. They allowed just two walks and struck out seven. Jade Montes and Teagan Liske combined to shout out Edwards.
Leading the way on offense were Montes and Kenadie Young. They each had three hits, including a triple and a double. These players would come around to score three runs apiece. Gabby Eastes, Emmy Bechtel, and Kiera Hayes each had a pair of hits. One of Hayes’ hits was a two-bagger. Bobbie Pruit smacked a double for her lone hit, while Josie Wilder had one hit and scored three runs. Amber McAhren, Ashley Plante, and Bella Goffinet contributed one hit apiece. Liske scored three runs, while Brenna Elliot crossed the plate once.
Game two was much the same as Kern Valley continued the hit parade in this contest. They would collect 17 hits, that included four for extra-bases. The pitching was overpowering as Kern Valley pitchers allowed just one hit. They walked only two and struck out three.
Leading the way in hitting was McAhren with three hits, including a triple. She would score all three times she batted. Montes and Hayes each had a pair of hits, including one that went for two bases. Eastes, Bechtel, Young, and Wilder each delivered two hits in the game. Elliot banged out a double for her lone hit, while Liske and Plante were credited with one hit apiece.
