Nov. 20, 1939 – Aug. 9, 2018
Jim Beath passed away August 9, 2018, in his sleep, at the age of 78 in Mountain Mesa, Calif.
Jim was born on November 20, 1939, in Tulare, Calif., to Virgil and Bertha Lehman Beath. After graduating from Tulare Union High School in 1958, Jim served in the Air Force for 4 years. He worked for the city of Hanford as Director of Community Development for 25 years before retiring in 2004. He was able to participate in developing Hanford from a sleepy little town to a growth center of housing and retail development. Jim and his wife, Pat, retired to the Lake Isabella area in 2005 and enjoyed traveling during the early years of retirement.
Jim loved and adored his pets. Photo albums are filled with pictures of his favorite cars and pets. There was always one more home improvement project to be completed but his love and passion to the very end was restoring classic cars.
Jim is survived by his son, Jim Beath; step daughter, Teddi Griffin, sister Sandy Devlin and long-time caregiver, Donnie Abshire. He was predeceased by his wife, Pat; brothers Stan Lehmann and Jack Beath, as well as his parents.
Services will be held on September 5 at 11 a.m. at 6624 Dogwood Ave., Mt. Mesa.
