James Loyd Ray

Sept. 9, 1942 – Feb. 18, 2019

James Loyd Ray (Jim), born September 2,1942, in Bakersfield, Calif., passed February 18, 2019, at home in Mt. Mesa, Squirrel Valley. Jim graduated from Taft High School in California. Jim’s love of motorcycles, dune buggies and all types of cars stayed with him until the end. Jim loved adventure and having fun, and if you were in his company it was always a good time. Jim was a Marine Radarman during the Vietnam Era. On Jim’s Alaskan Adventure, he enjoyed gold panning and dredging, as he did in many other states. Jim could tell a joke with a straight face like no one else. Jim never knew a stranger and was a dear and trusted friend to those who really knew him. Uncle Jim will forever be a missing piece in all of our lives and hearts. We love you, Uncle Jim.

Rest in peace until we meet again.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Brewer, and his brothers, Norman R. Ray and William H. Ray. Jim is survived by sisters Carol J. Ray Mankins, Roberta L. Meredith, and Jerri A. Ray; nephew Danny C. Ray, Sr., and his wife, Vicki A. Ray; great-nephews Jesse M. Ray, and Danny C. Ray, Jr.; great-niece Jamie V. Sparks, and many other family members and dear friends too numerous to count.
