Harold W. Chalker, “Chalk,” 92, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2018.
Born in Ravenna, OH, in 1927, he grew up hunting and fishing. “Chalk” is survived by his wife, Bess Chalker; daughter, Charolde “Cheri” Wilkins; granddaughters, Ashley DuVall and Angela Bowman; grandson, Harold W. Chalker, III; and great-grandchildren Brooklyn DuVall, Walker Bowman, and Wyatt Bowman. His son, Harold “Kibby” Chalker, passed previously.
Harold retired from L.A. County, where he was a supervisor of many men, and they built tunnels and roads throughout Los Angeles County. He has lived in Wofford Heights for the past 30 years and loved hunting, fishing and metal detecting. He was a member of the Kern River Valley Gun Association and volunteered at the Kern River Fish Hatchery for many years. “Chalk” enjoyed life to the fullest, always met you with a smile and never met a stranger.
His memorial service will be held on December 20, 2018. The local American Legion 711 will be providing an honorary motorcycle escort which will meet at the Lake Isabella Mortuary at 11:30 a.m. and travel to the Bakersfield National Cemetery, where he will receive a burial with military honors at 2:00 p.m. All his friends are invited.
