Heading into Thanksgiving, Kern Valley residents will be able to go to one of three locations to receive free food on Monday, Nov. 23.

The event is a joint community outreach effort of the Community Action Partnership of Kern Food Bank and the Rotary Club of Kern River Valley.

The free food distributions will begin at 10 a.m. and run until noon, or until supplies run out, a flyer distributed by the Rotary Club reported.

The first location will be in Vets Hall I of the Kern River Valley Veterans and Senior Center, located at 6405 Lake Isabella Blvd. in Lake Isabella, the flyer reported. Those picking up are asked to bring either a box or two reusable grocery bags for carrying away food items.

The second location will be the Mountain Mesa Grace Chapel Community Center at 12312 Mountain Mesa Road, next to the Mt. Mesa Market.

The final site is at Canyon Hills, Kern River Valley at 25 Arden Ave. in Wofford Heights.

The flyer also noted that volunteers from American Legion Post 711 Riders and individuals from Camp Erwin Owens will assist with the food distribution at the Kern River Valley Veterans and Senior Center.
