George “Delbert” Brunton was born in Bakersfield, Calif., on October 21, 1939. He passed away June 8, 2018, after a battle with lung cancer. Delbert retired from Brunton’s Flooring to Lake Isabella, where he resided with his wife. Delbert was known for helping tow out people who were stuck in the lake.
Delbert leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Cynthia; son George Delbert, Jr., and his children Poe and Leila; daughter Verna and her husband, Dale Harper (children Brandon and Brittney); son Jessie Brunton and his children Sadie and Cassie; son Jeffrey Brunton and his children Cameron and Marissa; stepson Paul Gac and his son Ryan; stepdaughter Kelly Hale and her children Brandon Hale, Travis Gannon and Vern Kellingsworth; stepson David Paul and his wife, Tammie (children August and Wylder); stepdaughter Marilyn and her husband, Kevin Johnson (child Payton); grandchildren Deseray Gannon from Colorado and Michelle Gannon from Oklahoma; adopted daughter Jessica Miles of Lake Isabella; sisters Bobetta Gafford of South Lake and Madeline Brimage of Bakersfield; great-grandchildren Eddie, Eli, Riley, Brandon Jr., Kayten, Savannah, Bella, Shawn, Ella, Emily, Travis Jr., and Maylie; sister-in-law Wilma Brunton of Bakersfield and nephew and niece Greg and Patti.
He also leaves behind his little pride-and-joys, Rascal and Cricket.
Delbert was preceded in death by his sisters, Iris and Roseba; brothers Jessie and Robert; daughter Bonita; grandsons Billy and Bryan Gannon and daughter-in-law Jolene Brunton.
Services will be held Friday, June 22, 2018, at Lake Isabella Mortuary, 5108 Lake Isabella Blvd., at 11:00 a.m.
