Garnol was born in Gilham, Arkansas to Garnol Offeral Brock Sr. and Elawea Cannon Brock on January 3, 1937, and passed in Bakersfield, California on May 12, 2020 of complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
He spent his early life in the San Gabriel Valley, CA, graduating from Baldwin Park High School and attending UCLA.
His career in the grocery industry started early, working at Crawford’s Ranch Market in high school, and after working for a short time in accounting, he worked for Shopping Bag, then Von’s Grocery Co., where he worked his way up to management at a young age.
From there he went to Smith’s Grocery as a V.P. in Salt Lake City, UT. In 1985 Garnol started the Food Brokerage company, Advantage Sales & Marketing based in Irvine, CA with 2 partners.
After retiring from ASM in 1996, he and wife Rose moved to Las Vegas NV, then to Roseburg, OR. They retired to their vacation home in Wofford Heights, CA in 2012.
Garnol loved sports, golf, traveling, friends and family, poker, sharing tall tales, and his big poodles. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, sons Doug-las (Estela, Moises) of Goleta, CA, Craig (Margaret) of Paso Robles, CA, Sean Riggs (Bridget) of Tampa, FL., daughter Colleen Corey (Steven) of San Ramon, CA, grandsons Eric and Stephen Brock, granddaughters Stefanie Walker (Zach and baby Hailee) and Megan Riggs, his brothers Wesley Gene of Wofford Heights, CA, and William (Jerry) (Carol) of Soldotna, Alaska.
He was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church, where a Memorial Mass is pending.
