One streak ended and one began last weekend for Monmouth’s Becca Gallis (Kernville, Calif./Kern Valley) who earned her third Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week honor this season.
Gallis set another program record and helped the Scots pull into a tie for first in the Midwest Conference last weekend.
The senior guard poured in 21 points in Friday’s 83-60 win over Ripon, forging a tie for first in the league with the Red Hawks. Gallis ended her program-record consecutive free throw string at 32 on Friday, but started a new string with a 13-for-13 effort in Saturday’s 69-59 win at Lawrence.
Gallis’ Saturday performance at the line set the single game consecutive free throw mark on her way to a team-high 27-point day. For the week, Gallis averaged 24 points per game on 12-of-21 (.571) shooting from the floor and 18-of-20 (.900) from the line.
An exercise science major, Gallis is the daughter of William and Sheila Gallis.
