MONMOUTH, Ill. – Two freshmen who hit above .400 and Monmouth’s career strikeout leader were named All-Midwest Conference in a vote of the league’s coaches announced today.
Catcher Rebecca Gallis, an exercise science major (Kernville, Calif./Kern Valley) and outfielder Laura Dulee (Bloomington, Ill./U-High) – both freshmen who hit within five points of one another – were joined on the squad by junior Liz Hippen (Toulon, Ill./Stark County) – a three-time all-league selection.
Gallis was selected to the first team and led the Scots with a .430 average, which ranks second in the conference.
Playing in 34 of Monmouth’s 35 games, Gallis collected team highs of 27 RBIs and seven home runs – two off the program season record – while compiling a .701 slugging percentage, which was also tops on the team. Her slugging percentage ranked her first in the league and her home run total ranked was one off the lead.
This marks the 24th consecutive year the Fighting Scots have earned all-conference status.
