Frosh/soph volleyball squad wins at home

The Lady Broncs split a pair of matches this past week, but dominated in the home match with Del Oro.
This past Thursday, the Kern Valley frosh/soph volleyball team entertained Del Oro. On their home court, they would come away with the match win by sets scored of 25-20 and 25-15. The match result was never in doubt as this new squad continues to learn the game of high school volleyball.
In this match with Del Oro, the Lady Broncs crushed their opponents with 20 serving aces. Bailey Buskirk topped Kern Valley with six aces. She was followed closely by Hazel Kiosef who delivered five service aces. Gabby Eastes contributed four aces, while Harkey Jolly had three. Zoe Perfect and Cambria Draag also got in on the serving act as they each had one service ace in the match. At the net, Buskirk, Draag, and Kiosef shared the team lead in kills. Each Lady Broncs player recorded one kill apiece in the match. Eastes was credited with a pair of assists for Kern Valley.
Two days prior the Lady Broncs went on the road to McFarland. This was a battle as neither team would give an inch. The two squads went to the deciding set before a winner was declared. Unfortunately, the Lady Broncs would come up short and drop the match 2-1. The match began with the Lady Cougars outlasting Kern Valley 25-15. The match score was 1-0 for McFarland. With no quit in them, the Lady Broncs bounced back to take the second set 25-18 to even the match at 1-1. The see-saw battle went back and forth until the Lady Cougars finished off the set by winning 16-14 and sending Kern Valley home with the tough loss.
Whole the individual stats for the match are not impressive, it goes to show that the Kern Valley used every ounce of effort to try and secure the match win. The Lady Broncs as a team recorded 12 kills. They were led by Kiosef with five. Eastes contributed three kills, while Perfect and Buskirk had a pair of kills apiece. There were nine service aces in the match for Kern Valley. Leading the way was Jolly with three aces. Eastes and Perfect each delivered two serving aces in the match. Kiosef and Draag rounded out the serving aces with one apiece. Eastes was the top assist player for the Lady Broncs. She was credited with seven to lead her team. Jolly, Perfect, and Kiosef followed with one assist each in the three-set match.
