No, it’s not new math. It’s the number of Kern Valley athletes that competed in the Morro Bay Pirate Relays.
These Lady Broncs were able to grab third place in the meet. Despite competing in just seven events, Kern Valley was very successful. As a team, the Lady Broncs won four of those events. They also had three second place finishes, and one each third place and fourth.
The Lady Broncs earned 88 points to finish third. Just ahead of them were Santa Maria with 112 points, and Morro Bay with 115 points.
Aspen Hacker ran her way to a pair of wins. In field events Jayda Bushling came out in top in two events. A. Hacker won the 800m and the 3200m. Her times were 2:24.69 and 11:52.99 respectively. Bushling jumper her way into her wins. She won the long jump with a leap of 15-04.50. She jumped 31-10.00 to take the triple jump.
Bushling recorded two second place finishes, while A. Hacker had one. Bushling was runner up in the 100m in a time of 12.58 and second in the 200m in a time of 26.84. A. Hacker was second in the 400m with a time of 1:03.60.
Kyla Hacker competed in four events. Her top place was third in the 1600m in a time of 6:02.85. She would take fourth in the 3200m. Her time was 12:46.95. In the 800m she would cross the line in sixth place in a time of 2:45.27. Her last event was the 400m where she finished seventh in a time of 1:11.82.
Last, but not least, Scarlet Weber was fifth and sixth in the long jump and triple jump. She jumped 13-11.00 in the long jump and went 28-09.00 in the triple jump. Weber placed eighth in the 200m and ninth in the 100m. Her time in the 200m was 29.36 and ran the 100m in 13.82.
These ladies are gaining valuable experience as they compete against bigger competition. This in turn will give them an advantage as they continue their season.
