Foundation invites public to River Rhythms

The public is invited to attend the River Rhythms Concert Series, which begins Friday, August 2, and runs each Friday night throughout the month of August at 6pm, at Circle Park, located at 7 Tobias St, in Kernville.

The Kern Valley Hospital Foundation online invitation said, “Join us for a free concert in Riverside Park in Kernville every Friday at 6pm during the month of August. Bring your lawn chair, blanket, a picnic and your family and friends to enjoy two hours of music.”

The first musical act in the series is Julia Lyons, a California Country singer rooted in the classics of rock and country. Some songs she is known for include “Girl Next Door” and “Miss Me Now.”

The following weeks, the public can expect to see performing, August 9 the group Rockslide and the following weeks performances by Left Coast Groovies August 16, Zen Zeppilin August 23, with the band Angels Roost ending the series, August 30.

The reason behind the switch from Riverside Park, last year, to Circle Park was because of the storms damaging the park, beside Kern River. However, the Kern Valley Hospital Foundation determined to continue obtaining Kern County’s permission to use Circle Park because of issues with their former stage being worn out and needing replacement.  The stage located at Circle Park was a temporary solution for the exorbitant expense.

Sponsors of the event include Kern Family Health Care, AltaOne, California Water Service, David Woods-Edward Jones, General Plumbing, Grocery Outlet, Harry P. Thal insurance, Kernville Saloon and Hotel, Lake Linx, OnPoint Gym. Pizza Barn, QualCare, Sun Power, and West America Bank.

Recently passed away, beloved member of the Kern Valley community, Charlie Busch, former owner of Kern River Radio originated River Rhythms Concert Series in 2011 when he envisioned a concert series showcasing bands, providing a family fun community event, which would raise funding for the community.

The mission of Kern Valley Hospital Foundation is to provide financial support to the Kern Valley Hospital by funding and supporting programs that have a positive impact on patients and the community.
