Firefighters put out fire and rescue animal

On Saturday, October 26, Kern County Fire Department firefighters went to follow up on a fire in Wofford Heights area, wherein a trailer had reportedly succumbed to an inferno of flames.

KCFD battalion 7 firefighters, from multiple engines, responded to the call for service
and crews kept neighboring properties from being engulfed.

After the worst was over the crews began their salvaging and overhauling when much to their surprise they found a kitten coming from beneath the ruins.

The poor little kitty was undernourished and had been overtaken by smoke inhalation. So Captain Hayes picked the critter up immediately, holding the baby inside of a pocket as the firefighter continued to work the area.

KCFD posted on social media that the team protecting the community, and rescuing baby kittens, was the department doing its part in your local neighborhood.
