The fire weather warning for the Lake Isabella are has been upgraded to a red flag warning for the weekend.
The potential for dry lightning, 100-degree pus heat and low relative humidity are creating critical fire weather conditions, the National Weather Service said.
Making it worse, the NWS said, dry lightning storms can cause gusty winds that will speed the spread of any fires that ignite
The red flag warning covers the southern Sierra Nevada from northern Kern County to Yosemite.
It will remain in effect through 9 p.m. Sunday.
There is a 20 to 30 percent chance of a thunderstorm in the area this weekend.
