A fire erupted between Wagon Wheel Drive and Golden Spur Street near the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) building on November 11 at approximately 3:11 p.m. Firefighters were quickly dispatched and multiple agencies responded to the scene. With the help of members of the community, the fire was quickly thwarted after having been contained between a fence line and a nearby tree. Neighbors to the property and guests attending the Veterans Day activities at the VFW acted quickly by using household garden hoses to prevent the spread of the fire. Firefighters remained on scene to ensure the smoldering fuels did not reignite. No damage to any structures was reported.
