Star Party at Dusk @ Fairview Observing Site

January 5 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join the Kern River Valley Astronomy Club this Saturday evening, January 5, as the club kicks off their 2019 “Star Party at Dusk” season. Once every month, the club will host an informative astronomy night at the Fairview observing site. The club’s powerful telescopes will be setup for viewing of the heavens above including the Orion Nebula, Double Star Cluster and other treasures of our Milky Way Galaxy. We observe a distant Galaxy, more than two million light years away. Is that far enough? That is how far the Andromeda Galaxy is away from us. A comet visiting our Solar System will be visible after dark using ordinary binoculars. You got em, bring em. We will show you where to look. So this Saturday night, sunset is at 4:54 p.m. Dress warm (layers are best) gloves and hat. Come out and look up. The Fairview observing site is easily located 12 miles North of Kernville. Sign and orange cones mark the entrance. Call Rich for information at 760-376-6290.
