NEXT 3 KRV FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS
The Rotary Club of Kern River Valley works with the Community Action
Partnership of Kern (CAPK.org) to provide much needed food to the Kern River
Valley along with Canyon Hills KRV & Mtn. Mesa Grace Chapel.
The next USDA Commodities distribution will be held on Monday, JULY 23 at 3
locations in the KRV from 10am till we run out of food.
USDA FOOD COMMODITIES DISTRIBUTIONS at 3 KRV Locations:
10am to Noon (WHILE SUPPLIES LAST), Monday, JULY 23
 KRV SENIOR CENTER VETS HALL 1, 6405 Lake Isabella Blvd., Lake Isabella;
organized by Rotary KRV with co-sponsorship from American Legion Post 711 Riders &
help from young men from Camp Erwin Owens. PLEASE bring a box or 2 reusable
grocery bags to carry away your food.

Kern County faces the 9th highest rate of food hardship in the United States. 32% of the
children in the KRV live in poverty. Community Action Partnership of Kern Food Bank was
established in 1983 to acquire food and other resources to help alleviate hunger, provide food,
and meet the nutritional needs of these economically disadvantaged in Kern County. The Food
Bank distributes millions of pounds of food annually to hungry individuals, families, non-profits,
churches, community centers, homeless shelters, and poverty fighting agencies throughout
Kern County. 54% of those served by the Food Bank are children.
The Rotary Club of Kern River Valley, working with the Community Action Partnership of Kern
(CAPK.org), provided more than 250 tons of much needed food to the Kern River Valley since it
started its ROTARY KRV FOOD PROGRAM.
The United States Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service acquires agricultural
commodities through price support programs, surplus removal, and direct purchases from
domestic markets. These commodities are distributed through the USDA, Food Distribution
Program to improve the nutritional status of children and adults and to assist and strengthen
the American Agricultural market.
Operating through 36 USDA commodity sites and over 70 pantries theCAPK.org Food Bank
provides emergency food assistance throughout Kern County to food insecure residents.
