Eleanor Jane Cantrell
Jan. 17, 1943 – Aug. 8, 2018
Eleanor Jane Cantrell passed away on August 8 at the age of 75 surrounded by family in a room filled with love. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
Jane was born January 17, 1943, in Fort Sill, Okla., to Curtis and LaVerne Bond. At a young age, she moved to McFarland, Calif., where she would meet her high school sweetheart and future husband, Billy Cantrell. Together for over 56 years, Jane and Billy were married on November 3, 1961. They lived in Glennville for a short time before making Kernville their home for the past 45 years.
Jane was very outgoing and easily established close friendships within her neighborhood and on annual trips to Morro Bay and Bishop. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, and growing a beautiful garden. Throughout her life, Jane showed immense strength and resiliency, surviving over 40 surgeries. Jane defied many doctors’ expectations but none more gratifying than having children of her own. More than anything else, Jane adored her family and we cherished her too.
She is survived by her devoted husband Billy, sister Elaina Hibbs (C.E.), daughters LaDonna Jackson (Stephen) and Valorie Mayer (Peter), grandchildren Brad (Ashleigh), Michael (Sarah), Alicia (Rudy), Sarah (Joshua), Bryan (Lyssa), Amy (Andrew), and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses that have provided exceptional care over the years. A private gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate her life.
We love you a bushel and a peck.
