It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Donald Chumley who passed Sept. 8 at the age of 75.
Born in Tulare and alumni of McFarland High School (Class of 1962), Don had 3 sons and is survived and lovingly remembered by his son Derec, grandchildren Stacy, Derec Jr., Dylan, and great-grandchildren Dawson and Payton.
He will also be dearly missed by his siblings Sharon and David and their families, as well as the numerous friends he made throughout his life.
Don worked for 32 years with Southern California Edison, first as a lineman then a Service Crew Foreman and Troubleman. He was a fan of the Righteous Brothers, Marty Robbins and could tell you how many feet per second any caliber of rifle fired would travel, though he may not remember what he had for lunch.
Don lived life in his own way and spent a large portion of his later years pursuing his passion of hunting across the world and hunted on every continent except for Antarctica.
He didn’t like penguins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 25, at the Kern River Valley Cemetery.
