Kern County Sheriff’s Office – Public Information Officer
On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at approximately 8:00 a.m. Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Kern Valley substation responded to investigate a restraining order violation on the 8000 block of Melody Lane in Onyx, CA.
When deputies arrived it was determined that the suspect had multiple felony warrants.
The suspect was located in a camping trailer to the rear of the property. Deputies attempted to make contact and an officer involved shooting occurred. One deputy was involved. The deputy was not injured.
The suspect was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants. The suspect was ultimately pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The identity of the suspect will be released at a later date.
