The seventh annual end of summer Crabfest for charity, at Kern Valley Hospital, drew full tables, Saturday, September 14. Kern Valley Hospital Foundation organized this event, which it holds annually to raise money for the hospital.
This is the foundation’s biggest fund-raiser for the year according to treasurer for the executive board, Deborah Hess. She told the Kern Valley Sun, “We are currently raising money to provide a facelift for our cafeteria dining room. We would like to make it more inviting for our Skilled Nursing residents, visitors, and staff.”
The swanky affair, which most attending dressed up for, was $65 per person. The Under the Tent social event was with limited seating. Sponsored tables for the Crabfest ran for $500. This event sells out, every year, Hess said.
Live music, mostly rock and roll, filled the air all evening with the local band Rockslide entertaining. The foundation held a silent auction as part of the fundraiser that evening.
The mission of the Kern Valley Hospital Foundation, which is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, public health-benefit corporation, is to provide Kern Valley Hospital with modern state of the art equipment, ensuring the finest health care possible to residents, and visitors of Kern Valley. The foundation provides financial support to the hospital by funding and to support its programs, which have a positive impact on patients and the community.
