Joshua Colt Johnston was born in Orange County, Calif., to parents Bruce Johnston and Sabrina Farnum. Colt grew up in Modjeska Canyon, Calif., surrounded by family and friends, where he enjoyed exploring the surrounding wilderness and learned to work on cars with his dad.
Colt was an advocate and lover of animals and worked as a veterinary technician and groomer for the last 20 years, as well as adopting and caring for many dogs. Colt learned how to groom from his mother, Sabrina Farnum, and co-owned dog grooming business in Wofford Heights, the Animal House. For the last 15 years, Colt enjoyed exploring and living in the Kern River Valley with his family.
Colt was a loving, genuine, and charismatic person who was quickly adored by those that he met. He cared deeply about equality and human rights and was an extremely giving and compassionate person.
