Church gets new pastor

Reverend Ron Ryan was born in White Plains, New York, in 1951 and was raised in Glendale, California. After working for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and serving a stint in the United States Army, he was educated at the California State University at Dominguez Hills. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Studies and earned a Master’s Degree in Computer-Based Education. A lifelong learner, he continued his education in Institutional Management at Pepperdine University. During his lifetime, he has lived in California, Missouri, Louisiana, Washington State, Bayern, Germany, Brunei, and Alaska.

He studied for ordination at the Cranmer Seminary, then read and trained under Bishop Reg Hammond, taking Holy Orders in 2001, and was priested in 2003. Studying further at the Channel Islands Bible College and Seminary, he earned a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies (Old Testament), graduating Summa Cum Laude and Valedictorian.

Following his ordination in 2001 he served as Deacon and St. George’s Anglican Church in Ventura, California. In 2004, he was received into the Anglican Church in America and established a mission, Dayspring Anglican Church in Fillmore, California. From there, he was called to St. George’s Anglican Church in Fairbanks, Alaska. Following a four-year “tour” at Eielson AFB, the Air Force moved him to Beale AFB in Northern California, where he was part of a joint ACA/ACNA mission in Auburn, California, until his retirement from Federal civil service this past September. He moved to Bodfish with his family in November.

Father Ron has recently been called by St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Kernville as their Priest.
