On November 26, Charlene Vehlewald went to be with our Lord. She was born on October 4, 1929. She died in her home due to complications of a stroke. She was surrounded by her family and her dog, Buddy. She was 89.
Charlene was born in Axel, TX. She was the daughter of Reynold and Mattie Greene. She lived in Waco, TX, until she was a teenager, then moved to Lynwood, Calif. She was PTA president in Norwalk, Calif., when we were children. She worked many years in the insurance industry. She moved to Isabella in the ‘70s and opened a yardage store where she worked until she retired. She loved to sew, do crafts, and play cards. She was a member of the Golden Slipper and the Red Hats. She attended Mountain View Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son Gary Clifton and wife, Chris; daughters Debra Sims, and Susan and husband Glen Brittain; grandsons David Webb and wife Jennifer, and James Webb and wife Miriam; nieces Sherry Heshler, Becky Chappell, and Karen Vox; and nephews Paul Chapman, and Aaron Abajian.
She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Reynold and Mattie Greene, and sisters Janet Greene, Peggy and husband Darrell Chapman, and nephew Randy Chapman.
A memorial service will be held on December 15, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. At Mountain View Baptist Church at 2959 Erskine Creek Rd. in Lake Isabella, Calif. Reception to follow.
