The varsity Broncs basketball squad closed out a tough season as they were defeated by Cal City 104-39.
The Ravens on their home court were the High Desert League champions and easily took advantage of the young Kern Valley team. The game opened with the Ravens taking a 20-point lead after one. The Broncs managed just nine points to fall behind 29-9.
In the second quarter Cal City continued to have a hot hand as they poured in 22 points. The Broncs made adjustments on the offense and were able to score 14 points. The scoreboard at the half read 51-23 in favor of the host school.
In the second half, even with a big lead the Ravens did not slow down and padded their stats by scoring 53 points against an undermanned Broncs team. Kern Valley scored 16 points in the second half. They had six in the third and finished with 10 in the fourth.

Head coach Brian Christianson said, “We had a lot of young players that got valuable experience this year. I would like to thank our two seniors for providing valuable help and experience. The players on this year’s team showed a lot of character that I appeciate.”
The Broncs finished the year with a 2-18 record and were 2-8 in the HDL. Next year could mean big things for this team that showed the heart of a champion every time they took the court.
