On Wednesday, Dec. 20, Kern County Coroner confirmed that 51-year-old Lisa Harvey was the deceased occupant found in her car that was extracted from the Kern River on Dec. 2 near mile marker 23 on hwy. 178. Cause of death was due to multiple injuries sustained during the accident.
Family members and friends of Harvey gathered at mile marker 23 on Sunday, Dec. 17, to place a cross in honor of Harvey and to say their final goodbyes.
“There are several of my family members who will never travel this road again,” said Harvey’s sister Debra Kay Duey-Valcho in a Facebook post. “We do this for us and as a reminder how short life can be, and for others to know that the 178 is a dangerous road and should be driven with caution at all times.”
Duey-Valcho also stated that the family now has some form of closure and are hoping for strength as they start grieving process.
Harvey’s family would like to thank everyone who offered their kind words and support in this difficult time. They would also like to give a big thank you to Kern County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue for all their efforts in treating Harvey with respect when she was found.
