Betty June Davidge

Sept. 20, 1941 — Oct. 16, 2020

Betty June Davidge passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at her home in Squirrel Mountain Valley. Betty was 79 years old.

Betty was born Sept. 20, 1941 in Los Angeles. Her parents were Guy Leroy Johnson and Mittie Mable Eason.

Betty met Dennis R. Davidge when she was 13 years old. Dennis has fond memories of working on old cars and Betty holding the flashlight. They were married on Jan. 14, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and shortly after they purchased their first home in Downey, California.

In the early ‘70s, Betty went back to get her high school diploma, then began attending Cerritos College to get her teaching degree and working in the area of Special Education. She was also an aide in a special education classroom.

In 1978, Dennis and Betty purchased The Western Auto in Lake Isabella. They next started a Big A Autoparts store before combining the two into Western Auto Parts, where they had a successful business for 19 years. They sold and happily retired in 1997.

Once retired, Betty and Dennis enjoyed traveling on their motorcycles with friends to many beautiful places. They were active with their two sons racing with The Dirt Digger Motorcycle Club for years. They also enjoyed boating and camping with friends and family.

Eventually, they bought a motorhome and traveled the United States, spending winters in the Palm Desert area with their buggy. They also enjoyed watching sporting events on television. In Nascar, Betty’s favorite driver was Brad Keselowski; in the NFL, her team was Green Bay all the way!

In retirement, Betty also actively volunteered in her community, including at the Kern Valley Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, The Methodist Church in Isabella, and The Eagles in Mt. Mesa, where members enjoyed many of her favorite meals on Saturday night.

Betty could cook! She would make Mexican food and the best Italian sauce, and she loved to make Jelly. Betty also loved to read books, Amazon would even send her books to get her to review them.

Most of all, Betty loved her family — the love of her life, her husband
Dennis, who she was married to for 58 years, her three children, four grandsons and six great grandkids!

Betty once said she didn’t need much jewelry because her children were her diamonds.

Betty is survived by her husband, Dennis R. Davidge; her three children, Ronald Wesley Evans, Dennis Michael Davidge with wife JoAnne, and Nancy Marie Monroe with husband Scott; grandchildren, Dennis Davidge with wife April, Jonathon Davidge with wife Kara, Matthew Glenn with Karra Finney, and Kurt Evans; and great-grandchildren, Dominic and Landon Davidge, Sawyer, Stella and Sparrow Davidge, and Kayleen Glenn.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held Thursday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at Lake Isabella Valley Mortuary, 5108 Lake Isabella Blvd., Lake Isabella.

The family would like to thank Optimal Hospice for the kind care they gave Betty.
