While the sports world is in a state of nothingness, here at the Kern Valley Sun it’s a chance to catch up on some things that were never reported. Kern Valley High School held its winter sports award’s night recently to close out the middle part of the school year. This is the time when all of the sports teams from the winter are gathered to honor not only the brawn, but also to showcase those student-athletes that shine in the classroom. Nine squads are active in the winter at Kern Valley HS. There are four basketball teams, two soccer teams, two wrestling and finally the cheerleaders.

The Lady Broncs soccer team took top honors when it came to student athletes. They had eight members of their squad honored for academic achievement. Following behind them was the Lady Broncs varsity basketball team with five athletes selected. A pair of teams tied with three athletes getting honored. They were the Broncs varsity basketball team and the varsity cheerleaders. Six teams each had one athlete honored.
