December 8, 1934 – May 2, 2024
Kern Valley resident, business woman, Arlies Club, passed away May 2, 2024 quietly at home. She was born Dec. 8 1934. Arlie moved to the valley back in 1964, she was a very busy woman at the age of 29 raising her children, running the home. She loved the mountains. She would pick wild elderberries make jam, she loved to cook homemade breads the house would smell so good! She stayed up late at nights when she would knit, crochet and sew. Her hands were always busy. Her hobbies were hunting, fishing, she loved to bowl. She was on a league and got many trophies and pins. She would play a lot of Bingo, that’s when she made a lot of friends. I can remember she was given 3 baby pigs to raise, she bottle fed them, raised them to be big pigs, they would follow her around like puppy dogs. From then on she would collect pig memorabilia. After she raised her children up she got into the bar business. You could call her a people person. She loved to throw birthday parties, weddings, even deaths. She always had a cake or full on Pot Lucks. She would always give you a second chance if you needed it. She worked 44 years taking care of everyone right up to the day she died. With love from her daughter Lois Brooks and her granddaughter Arlie Hodges. She is survived by her eight children, Jim, Alan, Chris, Steven and John Wyly, and their families. Also daughters, Ann Swartz, Marion Emerson, Lois Brooks, grandchild Arlie Hodges and their families. Cremation arrangements by Lake Isabella Mortuary of Lake Isabella with private family inurnment. Arlie was loved by her family and friends. She was owner of The Kernvale Club A.K.A. Arlies Club for the past 44 years, she was also active in the community.
