Angela Marie Covert, 43, of Bakersfield, CA, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 11th, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 21st, 1981, in Bakersfield, CA, Angela was the beloved daughter of Chuck Nelson and Cathy Perkins. She grew up in Lake Isabella and graduated from high school before pursuing further education at Bakersfield College.
On January 18th, 2001, Angela married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Dustin Covert, while he served in the Army in Barstow. They remained devoted residents of Bakersfield throughout their marriage.
Angela was a driven and determined individual with a tireless work ethic. She began her career at Young’s Market as a bagger while attending college and dedicated many years to the grocery industry, progressing through various roles and store transitions. She eventually excelled as a valuable member of the office staff and bookkeeper.
Following her time in the grocery industry, Angela found employment with the County of Kern, initially in the Probation Department and later in General Services, where she continued to thrive in office-related roles. Sadly, her cancer diagnosis forced her to resign from her position.
Throughout her life, Angela remained a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker to her husband, Dustin, and their two children, Lillian and Hunter. Despite her professional and personal responsibilities, Angela always found time for her passions, which included exercise, running, hiking, gardening, home improvement, interior design, planning family events, and cherished time spent with friends.
Even during her illness, Angela maintained a vibrant spirit and a positive outlook. She continued to pursue her love of antiques, operating a booth at a local shop and sharing her passion for treasure hunting with her daughter at estate sales.
Angela is survived by her husband, Dustin Covert; her children, Lillian and Hunter Covert; three sisters; two brothers; three nieces; two nephews; an uncle; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cathy Perkins; stepfather, John Perkins; and grandparents, Ben and Carol Burns.
