Abel James “BABE” Andrade was born in Hawaii on July 23, 1932. He passed on to Heaven, where he joined the rest of his family on August 21, 2018.
He served his country as a United States Marine and was a veteran of the Korean War. BABE also worked as a lineman for General Telephone Company for 32 years before retiring and moving to the Kern River Valley.
Abel is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children: Ramona, Christopher, Clifford and Lillian; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was known and loved by many people in the Kern River Valley as he participated in horseshoes, pool, fishing and befriending others in several local restaurants.
On September 28, 2018, there will be a brief military service at the National Cemetery in Arvin, Calif., beginning at 10:45 a.m. At Abel’s request, there will not be a reception following his ceremony.
