With nine returners, the Kern Valley head coach is hopeful for success for his team.
The Broncs head coach Wayne Moore, has four goals this season. He hopes to allow his players to grow in the game of baseball, having fun playing the game, see steady improvement throughout the season, and most importantly getting them ready to play varsity baseball in the future.
Moore said, “My goals as a coach for this season are to teach them a higher level of baseball, have some fun playing an amazing sport, improve as a team during the season, and get the players ready for the varsity level.
He added, “I played for Mike Genthner when I went to Kern Valley in the 90’s and am teaching what I learned. I want the transition to the next level to be smooth.
Coming back this season are juniors, Edward Bowen, Brandon Cox, and Aren Valdez. Joining them are sophomores, Maddox Beaury, Andrew Barton, Wyatt Blagg, Blake Embry, Owinn Liske, and Blake Baughman.
Filling out the team will be freshmen, Jackson Price, Evan Brooks, Carter Beaury, Cameron Barrett, Greyson Fitzgerald, and Shilo Galvon.
According to Moore, two players for the Broncs will practice with the varsity team, but play specified games with the jayvee squad. Liske and Baughman will have this distinction.
This season, Kern Valley will be able to play more games.
Three other teams, along with the Broncs, in the High Desert League will be competing. Bishop, Cal City and Rosamond will round out the HDL.
In closing Moore stated, “This year is exciting because we are scheduled to play more games compared to previous years. Jayvee baseball in the HDL has declined significantly. Recently, Bishop and Rosamond had teams, this year Cal City will have a team.”
With more games to play and the desire to improve, Kern Valley will have ample opportunity to secure a successful venture.
